A demonstration study was carried out at three different sites in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, on table grapes. Amorsil Agri (Amorphous Silicon Granule) showed significant benefits:

• Increased water holding capacity
• Better uptake of calcium and phosphorous in the vines
• Bigger V-shaped bunches
• Hardier grapes – reduced fruit split
• Increased size of root zones
• Higher soil organic carbon levels at all sites
• Reduced requirement for superphosphate
• At least a two fold increase in silicon levels
• Marked increases in plant available Calcium, Phosphorous, Magnesium and Potassium levels at early growth stage
• Marked increase in Potassium levels at Flowering and in Magnesium at Post Harvest.

Recommended rate will depend on the silicon content of the soil. The above results were obtained at 500kg/ha Amorsil Agri
